Voicings

Use these controls to specify how chords should be voiced. Click to indicate which notes should sound in which octave. The coloured buttons show which notes are active, over a three octave range. R refers to the chord's root note, 3 to the third note, 5 to the fifth note and 7 to the seventh note. Use the track's Octave control to adjust the basic pitch.

The Menu button can be used to apply standard preset voicings...

Root Position + 1 Octave R, 3, 5, 7 order, raised an octave
3rd Inversion 7, R, 3, 5 order
2nd Inversion 5, 7, R, 3 order
1st Inversion 3, 5, 7, R order
Root Position R, 3, 5, 7 order
3rd Inversion - 1 Octave 7, R, 3, 5 order, lowered an octave
2nd Inversion - 1 Octave 5, 7, R, 3 order, lowered an octave
1st Inversion - 1 Octave 3, 5, 7, R order, lowered an octave
Root Position - 1 Octave R, 3, 5, 7 order, lowered an octave
Randomise (Polyphonic) random polyphonic voicing
Randomise (Monophonic) random monophonic voicing
Alberti (R,5,3,5) fill with Alberti (R,5,3,5) pattern (number of steps must be 4, 8 or 12 and Link must be un-ticked)
Oom-Pah (R,3+5) fill with Oom-Pah (R,3+5) pattern (Link must be un-ticked)

Rather than manually selecting each voicing, it is often easier to use the Random button a few times to find something interesting.

The Root button resets the voicing to the default root position.

When the Link button is ticked all steps share the same voicing. When the Link button is not ticked then each step may be given a different voicing - useful for adding chordal texture or a subtle increase in complexity.
