Section Command Buttons

Contents > Section Pages > Command Buttons

Use these buttons to perform various actions with the section...

Also see the CTRL+C and CTRL+V keyboard shortcuts.

Use the Copy and Paste buttons and/or the Develop button to speed up the creation of new sections by reusing and adapting existing material. The Develop button condenses a common series of actions into just one click and is very useful for quickly growing a song.

When Paste, Reset or Random are selected a dialog appears giving you the chance to set any of the following options...

The defaults for these options (all on) are usually what is required, but you can alter them to do things such as randomising the arrangement while leaving the chords and motif contents untouched, or copying just the chords from one section to another.

To copy a single track from the current section to another section...

  1. Use the track's Solo button to mute all the other tracks
  2. Click on the section Copy button
  3. Display the destination section by clicking on it's page selection tab
  4. Click on the section Paste button
  5. Accept the default Paste Options or turn off the Overwrite Chords option if you don't want to copy the chords too
  6. Click on the track's Solo button to un-mute the other tracks.
When stuck for inspiration, click on the section's Random button and JUMP will automatically compose an entire section for you. But don't expect miracles. Because you have so little control when randomising an entire section at once it's usually better to use the Random functions at a much lower level.
