conventional MIDI/audio sequencers and notation packages.

A 1 bar (measure) silent lead-in is automatically added to the beginning of the file. This contains MIDI commands to set each track's volume and pan, plus possibly reverb, patch, msb and lsb. Most conventional sequencers use this lead-in and the Track 0 information to configure their own internal settings when they import a MIDI file.
